Jordan Securities Commission Holds a Training Course in ‘Financial Investment Management’

In cooperation with the Arab Planning Institute (API)/Kuwait & the Ministry of Planning & International Cooperation, Jordan Securities Commission (JSC) held at its headquarters a training course in ‘Financial Investment Management’ during October 2010. The training course was held within the Arab Planning Institute training plan of 2010/2011. 
JSC organization of this training course comes within its continuous efforts to enhance local, Arab & international cooperation with all Arab & international institutions & commissions particularly in the academic field to provide the capital market with qualifications, to raise the efficiency of staff in the market & to enhance their specialized professional knowledge. The (API) highly values JSC efforts for this course success; from pursuing logistical measures & providing all the required facilities. API hopes that cooperation between our two institutions will continue. API & course participants assessed the course as excellent.
The training course consisted of two workshops: securities markets analysis & investment analysis. It dealt with a number of issues mainly various types of investment instruments & development, measurement of return, risks & portfolio investment performance & how to price & analyze shares & bonds. The aim of the training course is to acknowledge participants with the concept of primary investment instruments compared to financial derivatives instruments & with the concept of hybrid financial instruments & the relation with primary investment instruments & financial derivatives. It also dealt with how to price hybrid shares, bonds & financial instruments & how to price different types of financial derivatives.
The training course fifty five participants consisted of people operating in financial services companies at Jordan capital market & of employees in capital market institutions. All participants were granted a certificate in ‘Financial Investment Management’.
