Enforcing the issuers of securities to disclose all their data in both Arabic and English
23-Jan-2017
The Jordan Securities Commission decided to oblige public joint stock companies, mutual funds and securities issuers to disclose their financial and non-financial data in both Arabic and English, as of 1/2/2017. In order to facilitate the aforementioned entities, the JSC has issued a guiding muanual for this purpose that includes 34 disclosure forms covering the minimum legal requirements related to disclosure.
The Chairman of the JSC, Muhammad Saleh Al-Hourani, said that the decision aims to enable foreign investors and those interested in the financial market to follow the news and disclosures of financial and non-financial companies and will contribute in marketing for securities issuers in Jordan outside the Kingdom, in addition to enhancing the capital market’s position in the index of Financial Markets - Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI).
He added that providing disclosure in English will enhance the possibility of raising the Amman Stock Exchange's classification from (Frontier market) to (Emerging market). This would also enhance the role of the authority in ensuring the full and accurate application of disclosure and the dissemination of the information required for investors, noting that the decision allows the disclosing authorities to use their own disclosure forms if they wish to do so, provided that the minimum information and legal requirements contained in the disclosure instructions are available.
