Holding a workshop specialized in combating money laundering and terrorist financing in the securities sector

On 7-10 of this month, the Jordan Securities Commission hosted a workshop specialized in combating money laundering and terrorist financing in the securities sector to discussing the JSC role in this process for protecting the local economy. the workshop holded in cooperation with the Financial Services Volunteer Corps FSVC and under the title " Consultations on Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Controls in Capital Markets".
The Authority's Chairman, Muhammad Saleh Al-Hourani, stressed the importance of holding such meetings in enriching the knowledge and scientific side of employees working in the field of combating economic and electronic crime. He expressed his aspiration to hold more such workshops and meetings because of their active role in combating this serious and complex crime.
He added that this workshop aims to implement the objectives of the authority’s strategic plan, which is to make and combine efforts at the level of the national capital market institutions and other local parties, and in cooperation with international bodies, to activate ways to combat this crime by improving the ability to detect it, notify the security authorities about it, refer the perpetrators to the judiciary and confiscate funds derived from it.
The workshop comes within the framework of cooperation and partnership between the authority and capital market institutions to develop mechanisms to control risks that capital institutions in Jordan may be exposed to, study the market and provide regulatory solutions that contribute to combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
