Jordan Securities Commission Receives Students from German Jordanian University

On Thursday May 29.2014, Jordan Securities Commission JSC and capital market institutions received students from the German Jordanian University/ School of Management and Logistics Sciences. The aim of the visit is to spread the culture and knowledge in the securities market to all sectors of the society and to acquaint students with the activities, achievements and legislative and regulatory developments in the national capital market.
The visit discussed the role of capital market institutions and efforts made to enhance the market according to up to date international standards, to develop a proper investment environment and protect investors and dealers in securities.
The three institutions provided educational lectures to students clarifying JSC’s activities as the sole entity monitoring and regulating the capital market. Its functions and roles in protecting investors and enhancing the performance of the national capital market as well as providing a supportive environment for saving and investing ensuring transparency, efficiency and the rule of law. Students were also briefed on Amman Stock Exchange ASE activities and main developments witnessed since its establishment including the Electronic Trading System. Furthermore, the Securities Depository Center SDC briefed students on its activities and functions mainly, safekeeping and entering of ownership of securities at the Center’s records as well as clearing and settlement of securities on the basis of Delivery-Versus-Payment.
At the end of the meeting, students and lecturers made discussions during which students received a reply on their questions and inquiries concerning the securities market and functions of capital market institutions.
The JSC and capital market institutions permanently receive local and international students to encourage and to enroot the culture of investment as well as to continue cooperation with all sections of the society whether locally or internationally.
