The Chairman of the Jordan Securities Commission (JSC), H.E. Emad Abu Haltam, participated in the launch ceremony of the “Guide for Developing Green Financial Products for Banks and Financial Institutions,” organized by the Association of Banks in Jordan under the patronage of the Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan, Dr. Adel Sharkas. The event was attended by the Minister of Environment, Dr. Ayman Suleiman, the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan, Dr. Ziad Ghanmeh, representative of GIZ Mr. Baider Al-Shalabi, as well as representatives from banks and financial institutions, international organizations, and stakeholders involved in green finance. The event was held in partnership with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and with support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

This initiative comes as part of national efforts to advance the transition toward sustainable finance and to develop banking tools and products that support the green economy while aligning with national sustainability priorities. The transition toward both the green and blue economy has become increasingly important in addressing environmental challenges and climate change by translating the national green taxonomy into practical applications for the design of financial products and the provision of sustainable financing and credit facilities.

The guide includes a range of practical tools and methodologies aimed at supporting banks and financial institutions in developing green financial solutions in a more systematic and effective manner, thereby contributing to the advancement of sustainable finance practices and supporting sustainable development objectives in the Kingdom.
