The Jordan Securities Commission Participates in the (32) Annual International Institute for Securities Markets Development in Washington

HE. Dr. Mohammad Abdul Sattar Jaradat, a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Jordan Securities Commission, represented Jordan at the (32) Annual International Institute for Securities Markets Development, organized by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. Representatives from regulatory bodies in more than 54 countries participated in the event.

This participation provides an opportunity to exchange expertise and build direct cooperative relationships with counterparts from various international regulatory bodies. This fosters integration in regulatory work and the exchange of information on cross-border financial issues, and strengthens the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan's presence within the global financial system.

In this context, the Jordan Securities Commission affirms its commitment to continuously developing its legislative and regulatory frameworks in accordance with best international practices. This will enhance the efficiency and depth of the capital market, solidify the principles of governance and transparency, support investment attractiveness, keep pace with global transformations in financial markets, and align with the vision of economic modernization, thereby enhancing the Kingdom's competitiveness at both the regional and international levels. The agenda comprehensively addressed all emerging issues, foremost among them the regulation of virtual assets, strengthening governance and disclosure, combating money laundering and terrorist financing, developing risk-based enforcement and oversight tools, utilizing data analytics and artificial intelligence, and addressing capital formation issues including crowdfunding and initial public offerings, the regulation of markets, exchanges, and financial intermediaries, credit rating and auditing, cross-border listings, and cybersecurity.

It is worth noting that the Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), HE. Paul S. Atkins, delivered a speech at the opening session, emphasizing the importance of strengthening international cooperation to keep pace with the rapid transformations in financial markets and to achieve a balance between protecting investors and enhancing market efficiency and capital formation.
