Jordan Securities Commission Receives Student Delegation from the University of Jordan in Cooperation with ASE and SDC

The Jordan Securities Commission (JSC), in cooperation with the Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) and the Securities Depository Center (SDC), welcomed on Monday, 11 May 2026, a student delegation from the Department of Finance at the University of Jordan as part of an educational visit aimed at enhancing students’ practical skills and linking academic concepts with the realities of the financial sector workplace.
During the visit, JSC Chairman Emad Abu Haltam, in the presence of the Executive Director of the Securities Depository Center, Sarah Tarawneh, delivered remarks highlighting the importance of students investing in both academic and practical skill development, particularly in the fields of finance, accounting, and financial technology. He also stressed the importance of keeping pace with the rapid developments taking place in the financial, business, and securities sectors, while emphasizing the vital role of youth as drivers of progress, innovation, and future development.
During the visit, students were introduced to a range of topics related to the work of the JSC, including its objectives, mandates, and regulatory powers, as well as its supervisory and oversight mechanisms over regulated entities. The programme also covered the Commission’s authority to conduct investigations, inspections, and audits, in addition to the role of the Board of Commissioners in adopting regulatory measures and decisions. Students were further introduced to the financial market, the Securities Depository Center, key legislation governing the securities sector, and the Investors Protection Fund.
The visit also included presentations on the role of the Securities Depository Center in the registration, custody, and safekeeping of securities, management of ownership records, transfer of ownership, clearing and settlement procedures, ownership restrictions, and off-market transfers.
In addition, a presentation was delivered on the role and operations of the Amman Stock Exchange, highlighting recent developments and future projects, along with an overview of trading mechanisms and the key features of the electronic trading system used by the Exchange.
The visit concluded with an emphasis on the importance of such engagements in strengthening cooperation between academic institutions and financial and regulatory bodies, contributing to the development of students’ applied knowledge and preparing them to effectively enter the labour market.
