The Jordan Securities Commission (JSC), in cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), organized a virtual training workshop on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, to build the capacity of representatives from the 20 companies listed on the Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) index, as well as representatives from other publicly traded companies. The workshop aimed to introduce the requirements of the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Code of Practice and international sustainability standards (S1 and S2), and the role of regulatory bodies and listed companies in enhancing their readiness to adopt and implement the Code in accordance with international requirements and standards for disclosing risks and opportunities related to sustainability and climate, and their importance to the continuity of companies and investors.
This virtual workshop, the second of its kind, was inaugurated by JSC Chairman HE. Emad Abu Haltam via Zoom, with the participation of experts from the IFC and the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). It is part of a series of training workshops organized by the JSC as part of its ongoing efforts to develop the regulatory environment and promote sustainability and governance principles in the capital market, in line with global best practices. The workshop aimed to enhance the readiness of participants and support them in preparing for the launch of the Code of Practice for Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance, by raising awareness of the latest relevant international practices and standards and facilitating the exchange of practical experiences.
